Y10 Rounders

Battling to the Final Rounder – Year 10 Girls Make Kingshill Proud

Term 6 Week 1

On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 10 rounders team proudly represented the school at the District Tournament, hosted by Farmor’s School.

In their opening match against Stroud High, Kingshill won the toss and chose to field. Lara F delivered consistent bowling, linking well with Isla B as backstop. Deep fielders Molly R, Molly P and Maddie S worked tirelessly to return the ball to fourth post. Stroud High posted a strong total of 10½ rounders. In reply, Molly R led a determined batting display, helping the team to 3½ rounders—not quite enough to clinch the win.

The second game saw Kingshill take on a strong KLB side. Kingshill opted to field first, with Amity W stepping up to deliver some powerful and accurate bowling, once again linking with Isla B as backstop to create a solid defensive partnership. Despite their efforts, KLB set an impressive total, putting the pressure on our batters. Rising to the challenge, Kingshill fought back with resilience and spirit, showing sharp decision-making and powerful hitting. Though the total proved just out of reach, it was a performance full of character and grit.

The final two fixtures, against Thomas Keble and Archway, were fiercely fought—each decided by just half a rounder. Molly R, Erin M, and Sophie H-O struck the ball with intent, helping the team post a competitive 7 rounders. Despite superb effort, the wins narrowly slipped away in the closing moments.

Throughout the tournament, the team displayed grit, skill and unity. Sophie H-O (captain) was exceptional at second post, showcasing sharp field awareness. Harriet F took two outstanding catches and gave it her all beyond third post. Lara F and Amity W bowled with consistent accuracy, linking with Isla B as backstop to form a strong defensive unit. Molly R, Maddie S, Erin M and Molly P were reliable and composed in deep field.

The squad’s commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship shone throughout. A huge well done to all involved—you did Kingshill proud!
